Caledonia REFUGEE AID

The Caledonia efforts to help the Hungarian refugee crisis still continue. The last couple of weeks, the Caledonia has played an important part as a donation center to organize collected items, to manage hundreds of volunteers, helped with the transportation tasks between collection points and refugee camps, helped to furnish an emergency shelter place for kids, cooked for up to 1200 people a day on peak days of this never seen before humanitarian disaster. We did that because we believe no children should be left Hungry, should be left on the streets to sleep, no matter what nationality he / she has. Now we have reached an other stage, and beside accepting needed items as donations, we have more plans to help, hopefully with YOU.
We are delighted to announce that The Robert Burns International
Foundation here in Budapest have agreed to support our efforts to raise
much needed funds by providing us with a bank account to accept
donations for specifically this cause. The RBIF have raised significant
amount over the past 15 years to support the work of children's
hospitals and many other projects in Hungary.
Already hundreds of volunteers and individuals concerned with the plight of the refugees have donated food, clothes, blankets, sleeping bags and other items to help those in need. But there is still so much we need to do and many essential items we need to purchase and put to good use. We are hoping to set up mobile "Aid Points", so we can organize donations where needed, provide short term shelters anywhere.
Every single donation will help us help those in desperate need. Not one single forint will be used to cover staffing costs or other overheads. We already have an experienced bookeeper who has volunteered to keep track of the funds and also an accurate record of how the funds are used.
